Scanning

We have mentioned it before, but it can take repeating: reading is not just reading! There are lots of different ways of reading a text, depending on many different factors:

  • How much time do I have to read the text?
  • How important is the text for my needs?
  • What do I want to get out of the text?

This module will help you to scan a text.

Scanning is a technique that you can apply when:

  • you have only limited time to read a text;
  • when the general content is important for your needs, but not all the details;
  • when you want to understand the main ideas of the text.
